NYC: International Philharmonic Orchestra Concerts

YPHIL - International Philharmonic Orchestra continues their Seven Epic Concerts with the Hear My Nations' Voice Concert in Times Square on September 16, 2015 at 3:00pm. The free concert will beconducted by Michael Vagliano and played by the YPHIL Orchestra.Michael Avagliano has served as music director of the Central Jersey Symphony since 2008, and was recently appointed music director of the Summit Symphony. He joined the faculty of Drew University as director of the Chamber Orchestra in 2015.

Mr. Avagliano is increasingly in demand as a guest conductor, making his European debut with the Pleven Philharmonic in Bulgaria. Recent and upcoming appearances include the Newburgh Symphony, The University of Oregon Symphony, the Summit Symphony, the Plainfield Symphony, and the Northern Dutchess Symphony in New York. The Allentown Symphony also named Mr. Avagliano as a Conducting Fellow for the 2011-12 season.

Under his leadership, the Central Jersey Symphony has drawn acclaim for a transformation in artistic achievement from audiences and critics alike. In the 2014 season, Mr. Avagliano conducted the orchestra's first opera performances, collaborating with Light Opera of New Jersey for a fully staged production of Die Zauberflöte. The CJSO also presented Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake with FM Dance Company. Previously, the orchestra was a runner-up for The American Prize, awarded each year for excellence in orchestral performance.

Also an active violinist and violist, Mr. Avagliano has performed with the New Jersey Symphony, the Singapore Symphony, and the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra.  At Drew University, he also serves as the adjunct professor of violin and viola. This season, he will appear as soloist with the Monmouth Symphony and the Metropolitan Orchestra of New Jersey, as well as in solo recital engagements. 

Mr. Avagliano frequently works with several orchestras in the region, including the Harrisburg and Allentown symphonies, and currently serves as concertmaster of the Garden State Philharmonic. As a member of the critically acclaimed Madison String Quartet, Mr. Avagliano has performed on chamber series throughout the United States. Highlights of recent seasons include appearances at the Kenai Peninsula Festival in Alaska, the Ulster and Rhinebeck Chamber Series in New York, the Gabriel Chamber Ensemble series, and the Pennsylvania Consort.

YPHIL - International Philharmonic Orchestra aims to show the world how representatives of different countries can work together regardless of their nationality, race and beliefs; bringing out the magnificent music, celebrating the collaboration of cultures.

This dynamic performance will exemplify how collaborating with people from all over the world can bring a better tomorrow. YPHIL - International Philharmonic Orchestra envisions including more than 100 young musicians from more than 70 different countries for its first year. Young musicians between the ages of 18 to 26 will come from a wide range of cultural, linguistic, ethnic and religious backgrounds to take part in this ensemble.

Creating this festival of peace and fraternity will empower the voices of our youth, promote peace and dialogue, and raise awareness for universal youth issues. Through new and traditional social media, YPHIL - International Philharmonic Orchestra will reach out to millions of people to convey its powerful musical message.

Serhat Kaan (founder and chair, YPHIL) is the director of TURKEN Foundation. After obtaining Industrial Engineering degree with honors, he moved to New York City in 2010 to continue his studies for both masters and PHD degrees on full scholarship from the Ministry of National Education of Turkey. He has been actively engaged in philanthropy since 2006, the year he began to serve as the president of the Industrial Engineering Club at Fatih University. His hard work to elevate the prestige of Industrial Engineering Club was recognized by both his college and civil society leaders.

Mr. Kaan enjoys a rare combination of technical expertise and political insight. Mr. Kaan's prior service to the New York City Industries for the Blind proves his commitment in the field of human rights. His leadership role at the WPO Orchestra proves his contributions and involvement in raising awareness for global youth issues. Mr. Kaan currently holds M.S. Degree in Industrial Engineering and M.A. Degree in International Relations & Politics both from New York University; and is seeking a J.D. Degree in New York City.For more information, visit
