African Arts Festival Annual Symposium on Culture, Community and Struggle will be held on Saturday July 6, at 50 Navy Street, in Brooklyn, New York.

The New York Chapter of the National Association of Kawaida Organizations (NAKO) in conjunction with the International African Arts Festival (IAAFestival) will host the 30th Annual Symposium on Culture, Community and Struggle on Saturday July 6, at 50 Navy Street, in Brooklyn, New York.

The Symposium serves as the intellectual component of the International African Arts Festival. Thus, the Symposium is designed to bring together a variety of scholars, intellectuals and activists to discuss the myriad of challenges and opportunities facing the global African community.

This year’s panelists will speak on various topics and issues such as: The East organization, Political Prisoners, Arts & Culture, Immigration, Economics, the Congo, Afro-Palestine, Reparations, and on the late poet Gil Scott-Heron.

There will also be three films: one on Pan-Africanism, a film on Walter Rodney, and the other on Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere, former President of Tanzania, by Melvin McCray.
