Guinea: Opposition Leader Returns Home From Exile

A Guinean opposition leader who left the country ten months ago returned to the capital Conakry on Saturday, almost a week after military officers overthrew President Alpha Condé.

Sidya Touré, leader of the Union of Republican Forces (UFR) party, moved to Paris after alleged threats from Condé and the arrest of several of his critics. “I’m very, very happy to be back,” Touré said as he exited Conakry’s airport. “We will work to make things better for our country.” Read more here.
