BSN Publisher’s Mother Alice Lamunu Allimadi Passes

Mrs. Allimadi was the widow of Otema Allimadi, a former Uganda ambassador to Washington, D.C. and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, a former Uganda foreign affairs minister and a former prime minister.

Alice Lamunu Allimadi, mother of Milton Allimadi, The Black Star News publisher, and wife of the late Erifasi Otema Allimadi, passed away at a London hospital early today after a long illness.

Her children, stepchildren and other relatives were by her bedside. Mrs. Allimadi was born on June 2, 1940, in Jinja, Uganda. She is survived by six sons and three daughters.

In addition to Milton, of Harlem in New York City, her children who survive her are: Andrew Allimadi, a United Nations employee in Addis Ababa; Walter Allimadi, Susan Allimadi, Doris Allimadi, Barbara Allimadi, Opio Allimadi, Ocen Allimadi and Edward Allimadi.

Additionally she is survived by five grandchildren. Mrs. Allimadi was the widow of Otema Allimadi, a former Uganda ambassador to Washington, D.C. and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, a former Uganda foreign affairs minister and a former prime minister.

A prayer service was held in London’s St. Andrew’s Church on Thursday. The body will arrive in Kampala on Saturday, where there will be another service.

Mrs. Allimadi will be buried in Gulu, Uganda, at Bungatira the family said, adding that details will be announced in Uganda.
