Rep. Lowery: “The Administration’s retreat on action to protect Americans from deadly vaping products is a gift to the industry...The 2,500 Americans who have been hospitalized, the more than 54 who have lost their lives, and the many thousands who will become ill over their lifetimes as a result of vaping deserve better."

Today, Congresswoman Nita Lowey (D-NY17/Rockland-Westchester), Chair of the House Appropriations Committee, issued the following statement on the Trump Administration’s announcement to limit restrictions on flavored e-cigarettes and other vaping products:

“The Administration’s retreat on action to protect Americans from deadly vaping products is a gift to the industry. Watering down the flavor ban, limiting restrictions to pods, and allowing menthol to continue to be sold will fuel a new generation’s addiction to nicotine and cause countless harmful side effects.

“The 2,500 Americans who have been hospitalized, the more than 54 who have lost their lives, and the many thousands who will become ill over their lifetimes as a result of vaping deserve better. Sadly, the Administration is again rewarding special interests rather than protecting the health and well-being of Americans.”
