Knowing Your Status Can Empower and Prevent

"Magic" Johnson and Abbott will host a Town Hall Meeting and Student Address for Brooklyn community members as part of the “I Stand With Magic: Campaign to End Black AIDS." Events will feature information direct from "Magic" Johnson himself on how individuals can help meet the campaign goal of reducing the rate of new HIV infections in African Americans by half over the next five years.

The goal of the initiative is to reduce new HIV/AIDS infections among African Americans by 50% in 5 years. 50% of new HIV infections in the U.S. are among African Americans. Equally shocking, the infection rate for African American women is 20 times that of Caucasian women.

Local free, rapid HIV testing also will be offered as part of the “I STAND WITH MAGIC” program.
