Job Posting: Promote Opportunities For African American Men And Boys

The U.S. Programs of Open Society Institute, a private operating grant making foundation based in New York, whose objective is to advance a more open society within the United States and around the world, seeks a Campaign Manager to promote opportunities for African American boys and men and to address and help reverse ways in which African American boys and men are stigmatized, criminalized, and excluded from the U.S. economic and political mainstream.

The campaign’s main focus will be on under-educated, under-employed, and otherwise isolated black males who populate America’s underclass. 

Responsibilities will include: Establishing vision, goals, and priorities of the campaign;  cultivating and maintaining effective relationships with colleague funders and philanthropies to identify opportunities for collaborative and complementary programming; lead the planning, development, and implementation of campaign activities; host national and regional convenings; develop, implement and evaluate grant making strategies, priorities, and guidelines; tracking national, regional and local policy research and analysis related to African American boys and men. 

Qualifications: BA essential, Master’s preferred; minimum five years experience in related field; visionary leadership skills, experience working with African American boys and men and knowledge of issues and trends related to them; experience developing and managing special projects; creative thinker with excellent written, verbal, analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills; self-starter with ability to set and meet goals; ability to work effectively as part of a close knit, collaborative team; willingness to travel as needed.
