Power Networking Series Business Card Exchange after Hours at Baton Rouge Reataurant September 28, 2005 Sponsors L to R: Sean Dove, Proud Poppa Magazine, Phil Andrews, host of Power Networking Series, and James Lisbon, Publisher of AMAG Magazine

Phil Andrews’ Power Networking Business Series Business Card Exchange in conjunction with AMAG...For The Conscious Professional and Proud Poppa Magazine presented its 5th Power Networking Series at the beautiful, new Baton Rouge Restaurant and Lounge in Harlem.

Over 60 small business owners came out to enjoy a lovely evening of scandalous food, fun, cocktails, live jazz, R&B and soul while networking at Harlem’s chic new restaurant and cocktail lounge, Baton Rouge, tastefully located on beautiful brownstone lined 145th Street between Amsterdam Avenue and Convent Avenue.

Harlem’s rapid growth over the past decade continues to attract business owners from outside of Harlem.  Building a strong Black business network is essential to the survival of Black businesses in Harlem.  The Power Networking Business Series is endeavoring to develop that solid, healthy economic infrastructure that will be an anchor for Black business owners in Harlem and throughout the metropolitan area.
Hosted by AMAG, Phil Andrews’ Power Networking Business Card Exchange and Proud Poppa Magazine, networkers enjoyed happy hour from 5 to 7pm, followed by hors d'oeuvres and the classic, funky soul stylings of Up Front Contemporary and Classic R & B Band. Guests had the option of enjoying the party inside the cozy restaurant or outside on the intimate back yard patio.
Baton Rouge has four beautiful floors bringing you authentically rich New Orleans motif. Each floor can be utilized for themed events. Organizations, businesses, and social groups take advantage of Baton Rouge’s Networking Thursdays to popularize their products and services, new business opportunities or simply to meet like-minded professionals.  Different institutions are highlighted weekly.

Baton Rouge’s Seafood Gumbo, Pecan Crusted Catfish in Praline Sauce, and Slow Roasted Herb Crusted Lamb Chops with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Creamed Spinach have gotten rave reviews.  They have also received tremendous acclaim for their tableside flame demonstration of Bananas Foster.  The Hurricanes are said to remind you of Bourbon Street.

Joseph Barnes, owner of Baton Rouge, is proud that his guests are happy to have a comfortable place within the community where they can come and break bread together, enjoy cool music and cocktails while they relax and vibe.  Mr. Barnes is also the successful owner of two MoBay Caribbean Soul Cuisines – one located on West 125th Street in Harlem and one on trendy Dekalb Avenue in Brooklyn, New York. The exquisite Baton Rouge is his latest magnum opus.
