In early 2021, three friends of 20+ years developed the Chicago-based The Black Bread Company, the first Black-owned gourmet sliced bread brand. Since then, they have been featured on Ellen, OWN’s Profiled: The Black Man, Chicago Tribune, as well as several Chicago-based news outlets.

Most recently, BBC partnered with Rooted in Love, Inc. in holding a food drive for the residents of Buffalo, NY where a racially-influenced mass shooting took place last month. When the owners of BBC heard that there is a food desert in the area where the domestic terrorist attack took place, they sent 500 loaves of bread down for the residents in the Buffalo, NY community. Anyone can join them in their efforts in sending fresh bread and would like to add to their current load, they can simply place a donation order via their website blackbreadco.com.

The company is also looking for additional investors so that they can keep helping those in need. They are offering the public a total of 10 percent actual equity in the business, allowing potential investors to participate for as little as $250 a share.
