The first of The Professionals Network Organization’s (TPNO) ever-popular monthly mixers for 2008, was a salute to broadcasting professionals and garnered over 600 Professionals at Chelsea’s Club Nest on 28th Street in New York City, Thursday, January 17th. The line extended to the end of the block as professionals from all over the tri-state area waited to pay tribute to professionals in broadcasting. Organization leaders that position professional groups to unite were also recognized.
Mike Woods, meteorologist from Fox 5’s Good Day NY, who does the Good Day Dance, was honored along with NY1’s Dean Meminger and My 9 news anchor, Mike Gilliam. The Professionals also gave homage to music legend, now radio personality of Sunday’s 98.7 Kiss FM Open Line, James Mtume. Mtume is best known for composing mega hits like Juicy Fruit and You Are My Sunshine, and produced major artists like Stephanie Mills.
Tony Herbert, CEO of The Professionals Network Organization was teeing off on the golf course, but took a moment to share with BSN, “The reception went really well. It was a chance to come together socially, but at the same time, the event enabled us all to network with one another, increasing everyone’s opportunities for growth.”
Also recognized at TPNO’s January mixer at Nest was the Colombian Professional Network, an organization of Caribbean professionals, Marvin Mitchell’s New York City Black Professionals Meetup Group, and Mark Anthony Jenkins’ appointment of President for The Professionals Network Organization USA’s Meetup Group was acknowledged and celebrated.
“I feel very optimistic of the future, not only because of my appointment as President of TPNO’s USA Meetup, but also for the future of TPNO as we open chapters nationwide, in Canada and the Caribbean. We will also go into our underdeveloped communities and save our children and teenagers in public housing developments. We look forward to building our communities one at a time across the nation,” Mark Anthony Jenkins declared.
TPNO USA’s expected lineup of events include golf outings, field trips, dude ranch retreats, and more. TPNO USA Meetup will have their Super Bowl Sunday Jam, February 3rd from 5:30 PM until, at Corio, located at 337 West Broadway Between Grand and Broom Streets in Tribeca, New York, NY. There will be a Kick-Off Toast, Complimentary Appetizers, Cash Bar (2 for 1 Drink Specials), Large Video Screen on the Main Floor, Flat Screen on the bottom level, card games and lots of fun.
