Nationally renowned civil rights attorney Ben Crump and co-counsels Ray Hamlin and Paul Napoli will hold a news conference on Feb. 20 to publicize reportedly new evidence regarding the February 21, 1965 assassination of el-Hajj Malik el-Shabazz---better known as Malcolm X.

During the 12:30 p.m. ET press conference, at The Shabazz Center, Reggie Wood (relative of Ray Wood) will reveal evidence of a conspiracy perpetrated by the NYPD and the FBI to assassinate civil rights activist icon Malcolm X in February 1965 in Harlem, New York.

The evidence will also be delivered to the Manhattan District Attorney one day before the anniversary of Malcolm X's murder.

Ray Wood, an undercover police officer at the time, confessed in a deathbed declaration letter that the NYPD and the FBI conspired to undermine the legitimacy of the Civil Rights Movement and its leaders.

Without any training, Wood’s job was to infiltrate civil rights organizations and encourage leaders and members to commit felonious acts. He was also tasked with ensuring that Malcolm X’s security detail was arrested days prior to the assassination, guaranteeing Malcolm X didn’t have door security while at the Audubon Ballroom, where he was killed on Feb. 21, 1965.

The letter written by Mr. Wood will be delivered to three of Malcolm’s daughters, Qubiliah Shabazz, Ilyasah Shabazz and Gamilah Shabazz, who will be present at the press conference on Saturday.

Reggie Wood, the relative and administrator of Ray Wood’s estate will read the letter to them.

Three of Malcolm X’s daughters: Qubiliah Shabazz, Ilyasah Shabazz and Gamilah Shabazz will be at the press conference along with Reggie Wood, Attorney Ben Crump, Attorney Ray Hamlin, and Attorney Paul Napoli.

The law firm of Hunt Hamlin and Ridley and the law firm of Napoli Shkolnik are also apparently involved in this developing story regarding Malcolm X's assassination.

UPDATE: The NYPD released a statement  saying: "Several months ago, the Manhattan district attorney initiated a review of the investigation and prosecution that resulted in two convictions for the murder of Malcolm X.

"The NYPD has provided all available records relevant to that case to the district attorney. The department remains committed to assist with that review in any way."
