Why should police policy in New York City be dictated by dishonest police unions and their foul mouthpieces like Pat Lynch?

On November 5, in a victory for all New Yorkers, voters approved a measure to expand the ability of the Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB) to hold NYPD officers who lie accountable for misconduct.

The CCRB will now be allowed to investigate and disciplinarily prosecute officers who lie and give false statements in misconduct investigations.

“Police unions spent tens of thousands of dollars on their misinformation campaign, hoping to use fearmongering to defeat the #YesOn2 campaign,” said Monifa Bandele, spokesperson for Communities United for Police Reform Action Fund (CPRAF). “New Yorkers saw through the police union games and voted overwhelmingly to allow the CCRB to investigate officers who lie in misconduct investigations. New Yorkers want safety without police violence and harassment. The era of police unions being able to unilaterally dictate New York City policy is coming to an end.”
