New York City government has finally officially settled the case against five innocent young Black and Latino men who were railroaded 25 years ago in the infamous Central Park Jogger case.

A press conference will be held on the steps of City Hall, Friday June 27, 2014, at 11 AM. Raymond Santana, Kharey Wise, Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, and Yusef Salaam were all teenage boys ranging from ages 14 to 16 when they were victimized by the New York County District Attorney’s Office and the New York City Police Department (NYPD).

Grilled for hours without an attorney, they were frightened, manipulated, and introduced to the people of New York as a “wolf pack gone wilding” that raped Trisha Meili as she jogged through the park on the night of April 19, 1989.

In 2002, convicted serial rapist Matias Reyes confessed as the lone rapist and his was the only DNA found at the scene. In December 2002, all five of the men were exonerated.

The press conference will include members of the Central Park 5, their families, State Senator Bill Perkins, former New York City Comptroller John Lui, political activists and supporters.
