On Sunday, April 26, the December 12th Movement will hold a virtual memorial for Father Lawrence E. Lucas.

Father Lucas passed away on April 18. He was 86. He will be buried on Monday, April 27 in St. Raymond Cemetery, in the Bronx.

In a statement, the December 12th Movement announced that "It is with untold sorrow a most profound sense of loss that the December 12th Movement shares that one of the founders of the December 12th Movement, Father Lawrence Lucas has joined the ancestors."

Lucas, a beloved figure due to his fervent community activism and support for social justice causes, served for 26 years at Resurrection parish in Harlem.
