The New York Supreme Court on Thursday announced that it is suspending Rudy Giuliani’s law license.

The court concluded that Giuliani made “demonstrably false and misleading statements” to courts, lawmakers and the public when he was representing former President Trump and his campaign in their failed effort to overturn the 2020 election results.

In a 33-page decision, the court said the seriousness of Giuliani’s “uncontroverted misconduct can not be overstated.”

Editor’s Note: The New York State Bar Association released the following statement on the suspension of Giuliani’s law license:

“The New York State Bar Association is immediately removing Rudy Giuliani as a member of our association because of his suspension from the practice of law. Nothing means more to us than the integrity of the profession and we applaud the work of the attorney disciplinary committee in safeguarding the public. It is equally important that we recognize the ongoing legal process and Rudy Giuliani’s right to defend himself. We will await the completion of the disciplinary process before taking further action.”
