Why is Gov. Cuomo cutting Medicaid, and working on a rollback of bail reform, while New York is the epicenter for the COVID pandemic in America?

While Governor Cuomo is being promoted as some national star because of his daily reports on his response to the COVID-19 pandemic, right in his backyard by way of his state budget, he cut Medicaid by over $2 billion dollars and rolled back bail reform.

What a hypocrite!

To cut Medicaid that poor people, overwhelmingly Black and Brown, count on to access healthcare during this pandemic is unconscionable, and unacceptable. And for Cuomo and the State Legislature to roll back bail reform can literally mean a death sentence for the pretrial detainees, that judges can now send to jails that are already plagued with the COVID-19 virus.

We need Governor Cuomo to report to our communities how the pandemic virus is impacting us by race and poverty, and he must report on how decisions are made to determine which communities will receive the needed resources.

Some of us feel Black and Brown communities may not be receiving the resources that are needed equivalent to the devastating impact it is having on our communities.
