New York City has cancelled its city parks contracts with Donald Trump in continuing fallout over Trump's insurrectionist incitement at the U.S. Capitol last Wednesday.
Today, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the cancellation after some, like mayoral candidate Mark Levine, called for the cancellation of these contracts with Trump, which will reportedly cost Trump around $17 million a year.
“I’m here to announce that the city of New York is severing all contracts with the Trump Organization,” de Blasio said in an interview on MSNBC.
Earlier Wednesday, de Blasio had said Trump “incited a mob to attack the Capitol. The lawyers looked at it and it was just as clear as a bell that’s grounds for severing these contracts and we’re moving to do that right away.”
De Blasio also said “Inciting an insurrection — let’s be very clear, let’s say the words again — inciting an insurrection against the United States government clearly constitutes criminal activity,”
De Blasio had also added “Inciting an insurrection against the U.S. government clearly constitutes criminal activity. The city of New York will no longer have anything to do with the Trump Organization.”
