Council Member Inez Barron and Assembly Member-Elect Charles Barron will be holding a press conference regarding the shooting death of of Akai Gurley, an unarmed man in the stairwell of the Pink Housing development. The press conference will take place directly after a meeting with the Inspector of PSA2 (Housing Police) and the Brooklyn North Police Chief, and, in response to Police Commissioner Bratton’s account of the police shooting. The press conference will be held at 12:30pm in front of the 75th police precinct.
"This madness must stop," Assembly Member-Elect Charles Barron said. "There is nothing that they can come up with to justify the killing of an unarmed person by two fully armed police officers. This abusive use of deadly force is the cause of unrest across the nation. People are fed up with police taking our lives with impunity."
