Sanford Rubenstein
The prominent New York attorney Sanford Rubenstein is reportedly being investigated for allegedly sexually assaulting a female business executive who is an official of the National Action Network, according to media reports.
The Daily News reported Saturday that the alleged assault occurred at Rubenstein's East 64th Street apartment. The Daily News reports that Rubenstein through his attorney “vehemently denies any misconduct.”
The News reports that both the woman, 42, and Rubenstein had attended the 60th birthday party celebration for Rev. Al Sharpton, president of the National Action Network (NAN), on October 1 at the Four Seasons and that the alleged assault happened hours after the party.
The National Action Network has released the following statement: "National Action Network and Rev. Al Sharpton was made aware by media that a NAN top official made allegations against Sanford Rubenstein. National Action Network and Rev. Al Sharpton has not been notified or advised by any official investigating authorities. The allegations as reported occurred at a private residence after a NAN event and had nothing to do with NAN nor Rev. Al Sharpton, therefore we have no comment at this time."
In a follow up report The Daily News says an object may have been used to penetrate the woman apparently while she was not awake.
The Daily News reports that the woman eventually went to a hospital after the incident, and that she was bleeding and a rape kit was administered.
According to The Daily News, "The NYPD is investigating the incident as a possible third-degree rape — meaning the victim was 'incapable of consent.' The charge implies she victim may have been passed out or intoxicated during the alleged encounter."
Rubenstein, who is 70, has represented victims or their families in several high profile police brutality cases in New York including Abner Louima and Sean Bell. He currently represents Eric Garner's family. Rubenstein has worked with Rev. Sharpton through NAN on many of these police brutality cases.
Milton, are you denying or finding it insignificant that the TPLF attacked a federal army base...
