BSN Special: Candidate Bloodsaw

"The time has gone for the old time bully politics in our community. It should be unacceptable to the people of this community to have elected officials to send thugs into the streets to threaten opposing candidates. We need leaders, not thugs," said Bloodsaw. "Destroying campaign material and threatening other campaigns suppresses voter interest and results in low voter turnout. It is wrong what the Republicans did in 2000 in Florida and it is wrong when a Democrat does it in 2005 in Harlem."

The majority of voters in District 9 know Inez Dickens’ name and Dickens wants to make sure that’s the only name they know on today’s City Council ballot. The local democrat played dirty this past weekend threatening Bloodsaw campaign workers against mounting posters in the area.

“The time has gone for the old time bully politics in our community. It should be unacceptable to the people of this community to have elected officials to send thugs into the streets to threaten opposing candidates. We need leaders, not thugs,” said Bloodsaw.

“It is imperative that our community know they have options when they go into the ballot box during elections,â€? Bloodsaw continued. “Destroying campaign material and threatening other campaigns suppresses voter interest and results in low voter turnout. It is wrong what the Republicans did in 2000 in Florida and it is wrong when a Democrat does it in 2005 in Harlem.”

Bloodsaw says that he’s pulling out all stops to speak with district 9 voters. Bloodsaw has gained endorsements from Rev. Calvin Butts of Abyssinian Baptist Church, who endorsed Mayor Bloomberg in the mayoral race, and Former District Leader Marie Johnson. Bloodsaw has stressed the need for affordable housing, improved public school education, tax incentives for small businesses, and increased senior services.

Rev. Calvin Butts reminds voters, “Our vote should not be a pawn for any one party. There is another column to consider, column ‘C’ – the Independent line. Bloodsaw is maintaining his joint support of Mayor Bloomberg with Rev. Calvin Butts of Abyssinian Baptist Church. “I will support Bloomberg. He may not be perfect, but he has done a lot for Harlem residents.
