Left to right, Newsman Dan Rather, Paley Center's President and CEO Pat Mitchell and Georgia Representative John R. Lewis at the Paley Center for Media's Voting Rights Act event held on Monday October 20th.

Anticipating the largest turnout in history of African-American voters and marking the centennial of LBJ's birth, the event focused on the historic significance of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and the role media played in facilitating its passage.

A remarkable panel of people who made or recorded history shared their firsthand knowledge of the Selma march and other events leading up to this landmark law that transformed the political landscape of the South and laid the foundation for this year's presidential election.
