"Facial Recognition" Intrusive Technology Dealt A Blow in Brooklyn Complex

During a recent tenants' meeting held at Atlantic Plaza Towers in Brooklyn, Robert Nelson, the building's owner, announced withdrawal of his application submitted last summer to install the controversial biometric technology commonly known as "facial recognition."

The 716 unit housing complex in the Ocean Hills section had rejected the plan; tenants organized and demonstrated against this intrusion of privacy. The residents objected to entering their homes under these conditions. The meeting was attended by about 150 tenants and there was thunderous applause to the news that the building's onwer was throwing in the towel.
