Gov. Paterson; Do The Right Thing!

Our community desperately needs the Black United Fund of New York, as an institution which teaches and practices the concepts and principles of self-help. I would be very appreciative if you would forward a copy of your letter to me at the above address.

[Open Letter To New York City Council]

Dear members of the NY City Council,

As you know, former Governor Eliot Spitzer as Attorney General executed an unwarranted takeover and investigation of the Black United Fund of New York which has never officially terminated since November 2002 nor generated any charges.

These abuses have ultimately led to the complete destruction of the organization, the tarnishing of the reputations of its leadership and a great loss to the Black community. Eliot Spitzer has never had to explain his discriminatory and harsh treatment and destruction of BUFNY.

On April 14th letters were sent by Councilman Charles Baron and me to Governor David Paterson requesting an immediate meeting with him to discuss the restitution of the Black United Fund of New York. To date there has been no response to this request.

With the above in mind, I ask that you intercede on my behalf with the Governor by making a phone call to him, and by sending a letter asking that he meet with me promptly to discuss this important matter.

Our community desperately needs the Black United Fund of New York, as an institution which teaches and practices the concepts and principles of self-help. I would be very appreciative if you would forward a copy of your letter to me at the above address.

The Black community and supporters, by the signing of a petition, has made it very clear that this organization is still very much needed and should be restored and restitution made.

Thank you very much for your prompt response to this request.

Sincerely, Kermit Eady
