IRS Seeks Partners

On March 2nd, the Chinatown Manpower Project, Internal Revenue Service, NYS Department of Taxation & Finance and U.S. Small Business Administration presented a Small Business Forum detailing how the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act [ARRA] can benefit individuals and small businesses.

Presenters in partnership at the Forum included Stephanie Lau, Assistant Executive Director of the Chinatown Manpower Project, Brenda Luke, IRS Senior Stakeholder Liaison, Man-Li Kuo Lin, Americas Recovery for Business Specialist from the Small Business Administration, Mwisa Chisunka, Senior Tax Analyst for the New York State Departmemt of Finance, Sunnie Casimiro, IRS Senior Stakeholder Relationship Tax Consultant for American Recovery for Individuals, Chunyee Wong Miot, CPA, PC for American Recovery for Businesses, Miika Enck, IRS Stakeholder Liaison for Small Business Workshops, Lillie Davenport, IRS Senior Stakeholder Liason for IRS Issue Mamagment Resolution.

The mission of the group is to visit various locations throughout New York State and the five boroughs, recruiting small businesses, civic and religious organizations in catalyst partnerships for an event series designed to get information out to the masses, and capture information that would improve the program and enable them to better serve small businesses and individuals.

Topics included in the series range from How To Finance Your Small Business to Tax Requirements and Tax Credits and Benefits through the ARRA.

The next Small Business Forum will be held at the Queens Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in Jackson heights, Queens, New York Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at 10:00 am.  

The ARRA was signed into law by President Barack Obama in February 2009 in response to the economic crisis.
