With the general election just one week away, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund and its state affiliate, the New York League of Conservation Voters (NYLCV) announced that they will be endorsing Jamaal Bowman for Congress in NY-16.

These endorsements send a clear and resounding message that Jamaal Bowman is the climate champion that we need in Washington if we want to secure a habitable planet for future generations.

“Jamaal Bowman has been a strong advocate for racial justice and human rights throughout his career in education fighting for children and families in New York and we are proud to support him for Congress,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President for Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “He has a comprehensive environmental platform rooted in racial and economic justice focused on creating jobs and safe affordable housing as we transition to a clean energy future.”

"Jamaal Bowman is committed to protecting our environment and fighting for climate action,” said Julie Tighe, President of the New York League of Conservation Voters. “He supports renewable energy and is dedicated to educating young people about the importance of sustainability. Empowering the next generation to become environmental leaders is one of our top priorities and that’s why we are proud to stand with Jamaal Bowman in his election. We urge voters in his district to cast their ballots for him on Election Day.”

These endorsements illustrate the grassroots energy behind Jamaal and his commitment to fight for a Green New Deal that not only moves our country to 100% clean and renewable energy, but repairs and upgrades our infrastructure, invests in public housing, addresses environmental racism, holds corporate polluters accountable, and fights for a federal jobs guarantee.

“I am equal parts honored and humbled that both the New York League of Conservation Voters and the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund have decided to endorse my campaign,” said Jamaal Bowman. “They understand that a habitable planet needs clean air, clean water, renewable energy, and more parks and open spaces. Ensuring that our children get to live and thrive on the planet we leave them isn’t some radical idea. It’s the only way forward. I am proud to have the support of both NYLCV and LCV Action Fund. Together, we will continue fighting for a just future.”
