From Algeria to Zimbabwe, news and information about Africa in mainstream media is often sensational or shaped by interest groups who do not represent the best interest of African people.
“From AFRICA to HARLEM USA – A Town Hall Forum On The Modern Day Politics And Economics Of The Mother Land” seeks to remedy this situation by providing credible information about the rising Continent from the point of view of Africans and African-Americans.
Panelists, all of whom are sons and daughters of Africa, will provide unique insight into the key issues facing African people at home and abroad.
Milton Allimadi, the Ugandan-born publisher of the award-winning The Black Star News, will set the table by providing insight into a range of issues facing the Continent and us, including media bias and our necessary connection to Mother Africa.
Nellie Hester Bailey, human rights activist and tenant advocate, whose insightful analysis informs every issue she addresses, will speak on the geopolitics of the Horn of Africa, U. S. and China’s foreign policy towards Africa and the role of women in African politics and freedom struggles.
Rachid Niang, son of Senegal and owner of the popular Jacob’s Restaurant will provide insights from his personal experiences in his native land.
Brian S. Adjo, a Harlem-based CPA, will speak about the colonial legacy in African countries and its impact on today’s reality.
