Kermit Eady’s Rebuttal

No, Ms. Wyche, Kermit Eady is not crying, whining, cursing hollering, sobbing or sucking his thumbs. He remains standing tall and is educating his people to help them make informed decisions, and to stop supporting their enemies!

Rebuttal: MAYBE MS. WYCHE SHOULD SWITCH! In response to an article that I wrote for the Black Star News Website, “the Death of The Black Community’s Radio Stationâ€?, Ms. Brenda Jeanne Wyche came up with the most unintelligent and uninformed personal attack against me that I have ever been exposed to.

She starts by stating that I am “cursing Eliot Spitzer for what he has done to me.â€? This poor and misguided soul doesn’t even understand that what the Attorney General did was not to me, but, again, to the entire Black World, especially to Blacks right here in the state of New York, which includes Ms. Wyche, even though she has assumed the blissful position of “It’s not my problem, so you get over it!â€?

The purpose of the radio station was to teach and educate our people, throughout the Diaspora, empowerment techniques and strategies, using the talents and technologies that were already in hand. You see Ms. Wyche, Black United Fund of New York (BUFNY), was a not-for-profit organization that was designed and built to empower all Black people, not just Kermit Eady. I did not own it, but the people did –those who understood its significance and supported it.

Such organizations come directly under the auspices of the Office of the Attorney General, that can, on any trumped up suspicions and allegations, come in and “investigate; and, if the AG so desires, close the entity down, with your only recourse being the courts or political assistance. We all know by the time you get relief from the courts, assuming you get relief, a Black Charity is out of business. What BUFNY was building, and I repeat, was an empowerment vehicle —an independent institution— for the Black community.

Shame on the sister! She didn’t even try to help and was no where to be found. Ms. Wyche should also know that the genesis of all that was built by BUFNY came from the financial support —almost exclusively— of Black people through payroll deductions —not corporate, foundation or government grants. BUFNY, under my leadership, opened payroll deduction systems in the private and public sectors, and not just for itself; but, as a result of its pioneering efforts, thousands of white as well as Black charities all over this country are raising hundreds of millions of dollars to help people in need.

Ms. Wyche, however, should know that Black people have a responsibility to help themselves, and our political leadership, like Congressman Charles Rangel, State Senator David Paterson, Assemblyman Keith Wright, former Manhattan Borough President C. Virginia Fields, former Mayor David Dinkins, Councilwoman Yvette Clark and others that “representâ€? us, have a responsibility not only to protect the community and its assets and institutions, but definitely not participate with an enemy —or sit by in fearful silence— in the community’s destruction. She must do her research and learn the accomplishments and history of BUFNY, and what is really going on in the Black Community at large.

Does she know that in Mr. Rangel’s district, our children have the lowest reading scores of any district in the United States? Mr. Rangel is number four in seniority in the House of Representatives. Does she know that the life expectancy of a Black man in Harlem is lower than that of a man in Bangladesh? Where is Rangel? Does she know that Eliot Spitzer only supports an eighth grade education for our children? Does she know that David Paterson, in front or witnesses said that he was going to hold “hearingsâ€? against Spitzer because of his destruction of BUFNY, and then disappeared for over a year?

He then made an announcement that he was going to become Spitzer’s running mate. Never mind that the Harlem-based political “power brokers were united in support of another qualified candidate. It goes on and on.

No, Ms. Wyche, Kermit Eady is not crying, whining, cursing hollering, sobbing or sucking his thumbs. He remains standing tall and is educating his people to help them make informed decisions, and to stop supporting their enemies, in ignorance and silence —White or Black!

These “politiciansâ€?, who are quite different from true “representativesâ€?, have a lot of control over the survival and growth of our people and they must be held accountable. They continue to sell Black people down the toilet. They can’t and won’t help you. They are owned and controlled, and dare not stray off the plantation.

Finally, this sister should stop using profanity such as “Spitzer kicked your ass.â€? It is not becoming of anyone, and definitely not of a lady. While she may mean well, her public attacks against Black people are very destructive. She is really contributing to the enemy’s attacks upon us. Should she have a disagreement with a brother or sister, why not pick up the phone and say, “Let’s talk!â€? You see those people mentioned in the article would not talk —much less challenge the status quo. They are only puppets for the Spitzer’s of the world.

One last comment, does Ms. Wyche really think Spitzer is laughing with glee when he reads my articles or hers?
Take a good look at the work that God has empowered me to do —past and present. It will serve you well. God Bless you.
