NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly's Perverted Attacks On Black Leaders

-A +A

 [Op-Ed: New York]

New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly is a liar and should be fired and his police are out of control.

Commissioner knows that Black Leaders have had several gun buy-back
programs and anti-violence programs such as Man Up Inc., in East New

Black Leaders have met at every precinct regarding violence
and held countless “Stop the Violence” marches that his police covered.
His recent criticism of Black Leadership is a cunning and manipulative
attempt to put Black Leadership on the defensive and take the heat off
of himself for his failure as leader of the NYPD.

Racial profiling
that leads to Stop-and-Frisk, Police Brutality, and the abusive use of
deadly force by the NYPD is off the hook. Remember Sean Bell, Ramarley
Graham, Timothy Stansbury, Shantel Davis, and countless others – all
innocent, unarmed victims killed by the NYPD.

It’s hypocritical for
Commissioner Kelly to call for demonstrations and outrage over violence
when he does everything in his power, including police violence, to
suppress peaceful demonstrations. Remember how Occupy Wall Street was
routed out of Zuccotti Park. Even members of the media were not immune.

cannot be eradicated by police containment.  We need economic
development, job creation, community youth centers, fully-funded work
force development programs, and much more.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg
and the City’s $68.5 billion dollar budget and Governor Cuomo and the
State’s $132.5 billion dollar budget continue to benefit the rich more
than the poor.  When we reduce poverty, create living wage jobs and put a
real dent in unemployment the violence will subside.

Don’t drink the Kelly Kool-Aid.  Kelly must go.
