Pat Robertson's Satanic Sermon Against Haiti

-A +A

[Speaking Truth To Power]

Even as much of the world has been moved to embrace Haiti's victims, purveyors of toxic hate have emerged on the stage.

Pat Robertson says last Tuesday’s devastating 7.0 earthquake, in Haiti, was the result of a “curse” because Haitians “made a pact to the Devil,” to free themselves from their former French slave-masters centuries ago.

This is the same Robertson who “made a pact” with the genocidal Liberian warlord Charles Taylor, who massacred scores of African men, women and children in Liberia and, assisted in similar murders in Sierra Leone. The lucky ones only had their legs and arms sliced off.

Yet Robertson pocketed blood money and acted as Taylor's PR man in the U.S. Robertson is a dangerous false prophet.

He should be publicly defrocked. He is a blasphemous, charlatan opportunist. First of all, the idea that in the midst of such an unfolding human tragedy in Haiti, a purported “man of the cloth,” could spew such reprehensibly hateful ignorance is alarming. Currently, the estimates of the death toll is running from 50,000 upward.
Robertson could’ve shown some real Christian principles by imploring his congregation to help the Haitian people in their time of need. Instead, he has chosen to preach hatred like his pill-popping blood brother Rush Limbaugh, who claimed  the earthquake helps the Obama White House because they can “use this to burnish their, shall we say, credibility with the Black community, in the--both light-skinned and dark-skinned Black community in this country. It’s made to order for them.”

Race-baiting xenophobia is what we’ve come to expect from Limbaugh.

On the other hand, a pastor in this hour of catastrophic grief would be expected to pray for those killed and afflicted by this tragedy? Shouldn’t we expect some Christian compassion? The so-called “Reverend” Robertson opens his mouth and the cesspool comes out.

He is the founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) and the host of the 700 Club. Through his media holdings this wolf in sheep’s clothing has access, and influences millions of people. What message is this “minister” sending here?

In his asinine statement, Robertson seems to suggest the Haitian slaves should’ve accepted their lot, presumably, because their French slave masters were white European Christians. Weren’t those “good” Christian slave masters the ones who really “made a pact to the Devil,” by enslaving other human beings?
Let’s be clear, Robertson isn’t a man of god. He’s a religious hustler; peddling his perverted ideology of Christianity. And, this demagogue has blood on his hands.
In 1999, it was reported that Robertson had a deep business involvement with his friend the Liberian dictator Taylor. Taylor is currently on trial at The International Criminal Court at the Hague facing war crimes charges.

Taylor's His son, Charles “Chucky” Taylor Jr. was sentenced, in October 2008, to 97 years in prison for his role in the genocidal torture and murder of Liberians. The younger Taylor oversaw a paramilitary force called the Demon Forces.

The Demon Forces, allegedly, engaged in the torture and murder of political critics.

Was Robertson outraged by the crimes committed under Taylor? On the contrary, Robertson was given rights to mine for diamonds in Liberia. According to pilots who worked for Robertson, the preacher moved diamond-mining equipment around Liberia using another Robertson business scheme: Operation Blessing.

Operation Blessing is described as a “humanitarian” organization which is supposed to provide disaster relief. While using planes to further his blood diamonds venture with Taylor, Robertson told his 700 Club viewers that he was carrying supplies to the victims of the Rwandan Genocide.

But Robertson couldn't same his friend Taylor, and probably no longer takes his phone calls. In November 2003, the U.S. Congress passed a bill that provided a $2 million reward for the capture of Taylor, who was by then accused of crimes against humanity.

Robertson complained that President Bush was “undermining a Christian, Baptist president to bring in Muslim rebels to take over the country.” Could it be that Robertson’s real concern was the prospect of losing his investment in Liberian diamonds?

In an investigation done by the Commonwealth of Virginia, it was determined that Robertson transferred funds from his ministry into the diamond-mining operation in Liberia. Unfortunately, Robertson was never prosecuted for his crimes.

News account say there's religious zealotry operating within Islam.

What about Robertson who cultivate hate within the Christian faith? Are they any less dangerous when they promote discrimination against those of other faiths, especially if they have a different skin color?

Haitians are confronting a tragedy of epic proportions. If Robertson was a real Christian minister he would be using this opportunity to serve God’s Haitian children
and nurture peace. Some of the worst devils use instances like the Haitian calamity to promote their agendas.
