Publisher Welcomes Our Readers

The best thing about this added election coverage is that you’ll get to comment on these articles as well – remember we want it to be a two-way exchange. Welcome Back BlackStarNews Family!

As you can tell we’ve done a little bit of overhauling of your favorite website.

Our motto is still ‘Speaking Truth To Empower.’ This means that while we’re inviting you to become a part of our news coverage –as ‘citizen journalists’ — we’ll still make sure that the news isn’t dominated by Paris Hilton and Britney Spears despite Senator John McCain’s best efforts

Welcome Back BlackStarNews Family!

As you can tell we’ve done a little bit of overhauling of your favorite website.

Our motto is still ‘Speaking Truth To Empower.’ This means that while we’re inviting you to become a part of our news coverage –as ‘citizen journalists’ — we’ll still make sure that the news isn’t dominated by Paris Hilton and Britney Spears despite Senator John McCain’s best efforts.

When we discuss serious politics, and the issues we believe voters must demand answers to in this election season, we’ll focus on the economy  ….the $500 billion deficit, the 500,000 job losses, and the foreclosures  nightmare.

We’ll also talk about the costly wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the fact that the U.S. has squandered the global sympathy it enjoyed after the 9/11 attacks by its unilateral actions overseas. That’s part of the reason why much of the world is now reluctant to help bear the cost of fighting global terrorism.

We take our journalism seriously.

As many of you know, since its founding in 1997, BSN has scored several news scoops –including the expose of a major Wall Street scandal at Morgan Stanley when the firm fired a young Black banker then entrapped him before he could file a lawsuit; expose of a corrupt lawyer who fleeced money from Jewish Holocaust survivors; and many more exclusives.

BSN’s “firsts” has won it media coverage including on CNN, The Wall Street Journal, The Daily News, The New York Post, Newsweek, The New York Times magazine, New York Observer, The Village Voice, and Brill’s Content magazine.

We do mean it when we say we want you’re involvement. We’ve added new features to let you participate — we’re not only preaching citizen journalism anymore we’re actually inviting you to practice what we preach.

We want you to post comments to all the articles that we post, but what’s more, we want you to disagree with us when you feel we’re wrong and to send us your own articles, commentaries, opinion pieces, and community news reports to be featured on our website.

You can also post your favorite videos — whether it’s a brief news documentary about some scandal happening in your community, or something you’ve tried unsuccessfully to get the so-called ‘big’ media to cover;  now, you can do it yourself.

But we’ll still ask that you back up your community reporting with facts and/or documents; also, when you interview
people, making sure you get their phone numbers, addresses, and e-mail addresses, in case we need to follow up and check on things.

Needless to say, we won’t allow porn videos to be uploaded on this site; there are enough websites out there to cater for that market.

But you can also post fun stuff; like a video of the greatest dance moves you’ve ever seen, or that great short film you’ve been working on that you want the rest of the world to see.

And from now until November, you’ll get more election coverage from us; we’ve added now writers and columnists. The best thing about this added election coverage is that you’ll get to comment on these articles as well – remember we want it to be a two-way exchange.

So, you get to read or hear what our writers have to say, while we also get to hear from you.

And in a few weeks time, we’ll all be able to grow the BlackStarNews family when we roll out our social-networking capability. We call that section ‘ourspace;’ which is in line with the approach of our redesigned website.

We promise to keep improving the website by responding to your feedback and suggestions.

So if there’s something else you would like to see us do, or if there’s something you believe we can do in a different way, please let us know.

On behalf of The Black Star News family, please tell everyone you know that we’re back in business.
