Reports from Kampala, Uganda to this newspaper provides the following Uganda election updates.

  • The FDC opposition party has intercepted 50 ballot papers that were sent to be stuffed
    in one of the ballot boxes. European Union observers are now examining the
    papers.
  • Some ballot boxes are being delivered with broken seals; officials claim that the seals broke during transportation.
  • People people were discovered voting with slong sleeve shirts, with extra ballot papers
    hidden in the sleeves, which are then released into the ballot boxes.
  • Polling station agents in some instance have been forced to sign election results declaration before the voting started.
  • One polling station has already declared its results. There was 130% turnout.
  • One of the opposition Members of Parliament was shot at; condition not yet known.
  • The Army had heavily deployed in Kampala.
  • Security guards at FDC headquarters have been disarmed by government.
  • The telephone system is being jammed and some journalists are using Skype to reach the outside world.
