Yesterday, Pittsburgh Pirates organization shortstop Stephen Alemais and hip-hop artist WavesOnGianni hosted a baseball clinic at the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club in the Bronx.

The unlikely duo came together through their love of baseball and music and dedication to giving back to the community. In addition to running the clinic, Stephen and Waves spent time with the kids partaking in a Q+A, signed autographs and took photos. The event served approximately 45 children.

Stephen Alemais said, “I think it’s important to be here at Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club just as something to kind of give back to the kids in the community I grew up in, growing up in the Bronx and Washington Heights. Just being able to create an impact to people, to kids younger than me, and kind of give them a sense of hope that no matter where you come from you can make something out of yourself. No matter, doesn’t have to be sports, doesn’t’ have to be music, it could be if you want to become an engineer, if you want to become a teacher, whatever it is, it doesn’t matter where you come from you know I came from the same place and with perseverance and hard work you can do anything you set your mind to.”

WavesOnGianni said, “This means a lot to me because baseball is like my heart, so helping other people get better at it means the world to me. So, I’m just here to help the kids out and I look forward to helping them get better at baseball.”
