After having lost a game they should have won, the Jets made sure they won a game they should have won when they beat the Texas Texans 26-11 for their biggest margin of victory in victory this season.

The win pushed the Jets over the .500 mark as they are now, 6-5 entering that now so called “easy”, part of their schedule. Moreover, they won showing stellar defense that has come about since the 3-4 is back in style. They held an opponent scoreless in the first half for the third straight game and fifth overall in this amazing season for the Jets and their fans.

Coach Eric Mangini –and one can never stop talking about the job he has done—told media after the game what made him the “happiest” was the fact that this was the first game his team played where “all three phases contributed to the victory.”

Adding that it was the “best collective team effort,” of the season. And what an effort! There
was a 54 yard field goal and  the most field goals ever kicked in a game for kicker, Mike Nugent.

And for the second time this season two receivers, Laveranues Coles   (9-111) and Jerricho Cotchery (7-110) record over 100 yards via the air in the same game. Both gents did so earlier this season back in September. The last time this happened was 1998 when Keyshawn Johnson and Wayne Chrebet did so.

Then, you had the Jets getting only one penalty called against them the entire game. And that penalty didn’t come until 4:35 of the final quarter. You also had safety Kerry Rhodes recording a game leading 11 tackles and he now has 74 on the season, which, as you might have guessed, leads the team.

The Jets played well and if not scoring a touchdown came out of the red zone with points. They had their longest drive of the season when they marched 91yards in seven plays to get a touchdown. Coach Mangini signaled out the end of the third quarter drive and the fourth quarter score as stellar performances by his offense. Asked to evaluate his quarterback he stated, “I thought he did a nice job”. And that he did, coach. Just like the one you are doing.

ON THE BENCH: Jet legend, football immortal and NFL hall of famer, Joe Willie Namath, has a new book out, “Namath.” Joe Willie spoke to the media prior to the game. Namath is a Pennington supporter as well as Eli Manning. He said one of Manning’s’ problems with the media is “he doesn’t show emotion.” Namath, when asked why he wore his famed number 12 said “That’s the number one they gave me.” Joe wore 19 in high school in salute to the late great John Unitas. The number 12 was given to him in college by legendary college coach Bear Bryant.
