YONKERS, NY – Today, The Jewish Vote organization endorsed New York Congressman Jamaal Bowman for re-election in New York’s 16th Congressional District.

The Jewish Vote is a branch of the larger Jewish organization called Jews for Racial and Economic Justice (JFREJ) and is committed to helping elect progressive grassroots candidates while building a political movement that uplifts the voice of the people. This is the first congressional endorsement JFREJ has announced this election cycle.

"The Jewish Vote, JFREJ's electoral arm, is committed and excited to reelect Congressman Bowman. There is a strong consensus across our 6,000-strong JFREJ membership that Bowman has been a real ally to our movements, particularly on priority issues like the care economy, education, and racial justice. Our multigenerational Jewish Left constituency is ready to mobilize for Jews For Jamaal — and progressives across New York — to ensure Jamaal Bowman wins reelection in 2022,” said Rachel McCullough, Political Director of The Jewish Vote.

The Jewish Vote was founded in 2018 and since then has become the largest participatory grassroots Jewish organization in New York State. New York's 16th Congressional District includes parts of the Bronx, including Riverdale where a large Jewish population resides. The endorsement is a testament to Rep. Bowman’s shared values with the progressive Jewish community in NYC.

"It is exciting and incredibly humbling to receive The Jewish Vote’s endorsement for my re-election,” said Congressman Jamaal Bowman (NY-16). “For the past two years, I have been committed to representing everyone in my district in the halls of Congress. I have continuously worked with groups like The Jewish Vote to bring people together and to bridge the divides that the Trump administration left behind. Together, I know The Jewish Vote and I can continue our work in the fight for expanded health care, tenant rights, and against corporate greed and the rising tide of anti-Semitism.”

Rep. Bowman was previously endorsed by The Jewish Vote in 2019 when he was challenging 30-year incumbent Elliot Engel.
