Today, New York State Assemblymember Rebecca Seawright (D-Manhattan) announced her endorsement of New York City Comptroller Scott M. Stringer for Mayor of New York City.
Assemblymember Seawright represents the 76th Assembly District encompassing the Upper East Side, Roosevelt Island and Yorkville.
Assemblymember Rebecca Seawright said: “New York City needs a mayor who will be a voice for our city’s diverse communities and Scott Stringer is that candidate. He has delivered results for New Yorkers for years — protecting small businesses from closure, fighting for more affordable housing, and expanding economic opportunity. He has stood by my constituents when we needed him the most and I know he will continue to do that at City Hall. Comptroller Stringer will bring the passion and the commitment to the job New Yorkers need and deserve. I’m proud to endorse Scott Stringer for mayor.”
Comptroller Scott M. Stringer said: “Assemblymember Seawright is a fierce fighter for the East Side of Manhattan and Roosevelt Island, and has been a fierce advocate for women and a longtime champion for our public schools, senior centers, and open spaces in the State Legislature. Her career as a public servant has always been about giving back to her community and standing up for the most vulnerable. I’m proud to have her support and to partner with her to build a city for everyone."
Comptroller Stringer’s campaign has been endorsed by several prominent leaders who represent the vanguard of New York City’s progressive movement, including:
