Edwin Raymond, an NYPD Lieutenant and member of the NYPD 12, has announced his candidacy for New York City’s 40th City Council District.
On June 25th, Edwin Raymond will announce his candidacy for Brooklyn’s 40th City Council District at an 11:00 am new conference. The announcement will be made at the corner of Parkside Avenue and Ocean Avenue in Brooklyn (across from 350 Ocean Avenue).
Raymond is a member of the NYPD 12, a group of NYPD officers who sued the NYPD over the racist and discriminatory practice of quota-based policing which targeted Black and Brown men.
A Flatbush native and the son of Haitian immigrants, he has devoted his life to public service and empowering his Brooklyn community. He is prominently featured in a documentary about the NYPD 12, “Crime + Punishment,” which won an Oscar in 2019.
Raymond will be joined by other Brooklyn community activists and leaders, including Michael K. Williams and Korey Wise, as he shares a new vision for Brooklyn’s 40th.
