RWDSU Endorses Congressman Jamaal Bowman for Re-Election

Yonkers, NY – Today, the United Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU) endorsed Congressman Jamaal Bowman for re-election in New York’s 16th Congressional District. The powerful union, which represents more than 60,000 employees nationwide, has a long, proven track record of defending the rights of workers.

The son of a union worker, Congressman Bowman understands personally the power and importance of a strong union. And in his first term in Congress, he has worked diligently to protect the rights and expand the power of workers in our country.

“Our country is stronger when we have elected officials who stand proudly and firmly with organized labor. Whether it was standing with workers organizing at Housing Works in New York or taking part in the congressional delegation that met with workers organizing at Amazon in Bessemer, Alabama, Congressman Bowman has consistently supported the RWDSU and workers organizing around the country. The RWDSU is proud to endorse him for re-election and looks forward to continuing to work with him,” said Stuart Appelbaum, (shown below) President of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU).

The RWDSU endorsement adds to Congressman Jamaal Bowman’s strong support from organized labor which also includes the New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA), Communications Workers of America (CWA), AFSCME District Council 37, the Council of School Supervisors & Administrators (CSA), and 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East.

They also join the ever-growing list of progressive organizations and officials that have endorsed Congressman Bowman for re-election, serving as a testament to the Congressman’s progressive zeal and commitment to standing with the people of New York’s 16th Congressional District.

Additional endorsements include the Working Families Party, The Jewish Vote, the Sunrise Movement, Community Voices Heard, Make the Road, NARAL, Brady PAC, NYPAN, NYIC, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, and Arab American Democratic Action Fund. Congressman Bowman is also proud to have the support of his congressional colleagues: Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, and Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley.
