They are expected to be added as amendments to the 2017 Senate Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies Appropriations bill pending on the Senate floor.

The vote is happening at 5:30 p.m. 202-224-3121

Congress MUST take action NOW to let the government deny the sales of guns and explosives to known or suspected terrorists, and close the loopholes in our existing background check system by extending checks to gun show purchases and internet sales to keep more criminals and would-be terrorists from buying guns.

Both of these are expected as amendments today. Congress also must take steps to ban the sale of assault rifles and high capacity magazines to prevent more tragedies. How many more innocent children and people must lose their lives from gun violence before Congress acts?

Stand with advocates across the country and let your elected officials know that inaction is not an option. Tell your Senators to Vote for Common Sense Gun Safety Measures NOW! Ban sales of guns and explosives to individuals known or suspected of being terrorists and expand background checks to gun show and Internet sales.

We can and must do better.
