Michael Brown--killed execution style by Ferguson cop Darren Wilson

Get Ready to Respond to Grand Jury Decisions and Be in the House for the November 15 Dialogue Between Cornel West and Bob Avakian

As the co-issuers of the Call for the October Month of Resistance to Mass Incarceration, Police Terror, Repression and the Criminalization of a Generation, we wanted to share a few words with everyone standing up to say NO MORE to mass incarceration and police murder and everyone inspired by the defiance and determination shown in the streets.

The response to the murder of Michael Brown, together with resistance to mass incarceration and police terror up through October, has put the reality of police murder out front in U.S. society. And the world has seen there are 1,000's who are determined to STOP these horrors.

We need to continue to build resistance. We must take to the streets in response to whatever decisions are announced by the grand juries hearing testimony in the police murders of Michael Brown and Eric Garner. And we must strategize over going forward to STOP Mass Incarceration and Police Terror.

And the November 15 Dialogue between Cornel West and Bob Avakian at Riverside Church in New York City will provide a chance to think deeply on what kind of people we should be and what kind of world we want to live in. Its theme “Revolution and Religion: The Fight for Emancipation and the Role of Religion” goes at questions that are timely and of great importance for hundreds of millions of people around the world. If you are concerned about getting free, you don't want to miss this event.

At this Dialogue, people will meet 2 speakers who share a deep love for the people and a passion for ending the suffering of those who catch hell every day and for emancipating all of humanity. The audience will also experience interaction between the speakers getting into things they agree on and exploring areas of disagreement in a principled way with mutual respect.

If you want to STOP police murder and mass incarceration and the other horrors this system enforces on people, if you're interested in getting free, we urge you to be a part of this historic event. If you're in NYC, or if you can arrange to be in NYC on Nov 15, be at Riverside Church.

Cornel West is widely recognized as one of the most important and provocative public intellectuals of our time. A prolific writer and lecturer, West is Professor of Philosophy and Christian Practice at Union Theological Seminary in New York.  A champion for the oppressed, West's writing, speaking and teaching draw inspiration from and weave together the Christian and Black prophetic traditions, radical democracy and jazz, R&B and hip hop.  His book, Race Matters, changed the course of America's dialogue on race and justice. Cornel West's latest book, Black Prophetic Fire, has just been published in October 2014.

Carl Dix is a founding member of the Revolutionary Communist Party and a co-founder, with Dr. Cornel West, of the Stop Mass Incarceration Network. In 1970, Carl was one of the Fort Lewis 6, the largest mass refusal to go to Vietnam by U.S. soldiers during that war. Carl has been a leader in the fight against police terror and stop-and-frisk. Along with Dr. West, Carl put out the Call for the October 2014 Month of Resistance to Mass Incarceration, Police Terror, Repression and the Criminalization of a Generation.  In August, Carl joined mass protests in Ferguson, Missouri against the police murder of Michael Brown and was arrested while standing with the "defiant ones" on the first night of the National Guard mobilization there.
