Proceedings in the highly anticipated trial of the police officer charged with killing George Floyd during an arrest in Minneapolis last summer began Monday.

Even though jury selection is being delayed over other possible charges, the case has renewed debate over the role of police in communities across the country.

Activists filled the streets of the city Monday morning, demanding former police officer Derek Chauvin be held accountable for the death of George Floyd.
