Breonna Taylor: killed by Louisville killer-cops while she slept would’ve turned 27 yesterday.

On Friday, a crowd of hundreds gathered in Harlem, New York for a vigil honoring the birthday of Breonna Taylor, the African-American emergency medical technician who would have turned 27-years-old yesterday.

Taylor was killed on March 13 by Louisville police officers, entering on a “no-knock” search warrant, who shot and struck her at least eight times in her own apartment.

The vigil for Taylor was held in front of the Adam Clayton Powell Jr. state office building, and the peaceful gathering followed a week of protests in the city—and across the nation—demanding justice for Taylor, George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and countless other Black Americans who have been victims of racism and police brutality.

Taylor has become a nationwide face representing the many Black women who continue to be victims of injustice, igniting a call for Americans to remember Taylor and all the others who have been murdered through the social media campaign #SayHerName.

(Taylor’s killers have been placed on administrative leave by the city and still not have been charged with any crime, though the FBI has recently begun its own investigation.)
