Last night on the House floor, U.S. Representative Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08), a member of the House Judiciary Committee and Whip of the Congressional Black Caucus, assailed the Chicago Police Department’s blue wall of silence and demanded swift accountability for all involved in the death of Laquan McDonald, an unarmed 17-year-old boy who was shot 16 times by a Chicago police officer.

“Shakespeare would be proud at the fiction that was put out there to justify the murder of this 17-year-old,” Rep. Jeffries said, “it’s not just the excessive use of force, it’s the fact that far too many officers participate actively in covering up what has occurred.”

U.S. Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) represents the 8th Congressional District, including Brooklyn and Queens in the House of Representatives.
