Two bar employees have been arrested in connection with the brutal killing of Malcolm Shabazz, grandson of the legendary freedom fighter Malcolm X.
The men are bartenders at Palace Club, the Mexico City bar where Malcolm Shabazz reportedly went last Wednesday with his Mexican host Miguel Suarez, according to the authorities.
The arrests were announced by Mexico City attorney general Rodolfo Fernando Rios Garza. Shabazz was taken to Balbuena General Hospital Thursday mortally wounded from an apparent beating.
Suarez claimed he had been separated from Shabazz at gunpoint after the pair disputed a $1,200 tab, and that he later escaped after he heard a commotion. He said he returned to find Shabazz alive but badly wounded.
Malcolm Shabazz's injuries included brain trauma and several broken bones, according to Mexican police.
