Election Day is tomorrow, and while many votes will be cast at traditional polling places, The Lincoln Project and Mark Hamill have teamed up to remind Americans of the history and importance of absentee voting.
In a newly released ad titled “Absentee”, iconic American actor and influencer Mark Hamill walks viewers through the troubled history of the right to vote in America. The video serves as a somber reminder that the Trump administration’s attempts to restrict the counting of absentee ballots will affect thousands of Americans, many of them service members and their families serving our nation overseas.

“Nothing is more important than counting every vote, especially those that are serving our country. Suppressing any vote is un-American,” Hamill said.
Reed Galen, co-founder of The Lincoln Project, commented “America’s armed forces have relied on absentee voting since the Civil War. There is absolutely no reason for the Trump campaign to sow doubt and confusion over the process except to discourage people from voting and votes from being counted. He’s doing this because the only way he can win is by cheating. We won’t allow it.”
With an undoubtedly historic and consequential election ahead, voters in all states should make stand up for those overseas by encouraging their representatives to ensure a safe and valid election where every vote, including absentee ballots delivered after November 3rd, are counted.
The Lincoln Project is a group of prominent Republicans working to defeat the re-election of Donald J. Trump and those who support him. To learn more about The Lincoln Project, go to www.lincolnproject.us.
