The mother of Black Florida teen Sincere Pierce, who was shot to death by a Brevard County deputy, was shot herself on Saturday–during the funeral for her son.

According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Quasheda Pierce, 39, was shot, in the leg, by an “accidental discharge” from an allegedly concealed gun–being carried by a 16-year-old, who was also injured.

The incident happened during the funeral for her son, Sincere Piece, 18, who was fatally shot–along with 16-year-old Angelo (AJ) Crooms during a traffic stop by deputies Jafet Santiago-Miranda and Carson Hendren on November 13th.

Editors’ Note: This is yet another cautionary story regarding the lethal dangers of firearms especially in gun-friendly states like Florida and of the unchecked racist violence of police.

In the video of the murders (yes murders) of Sincere Pierce and Angelo Crooms there is zero reason for the officer to open fire on the teens.

The cover story of the police is that they were investigating the possibility these two teens were driving a stolen car. Even if they were, (they actually were driving a friend’s car) the officer had no justification for opening fire on these teens–except for the fact that murdering Black people is condoned by the silent blessings of our responsible political leaders.
