Florida Police Kill Black Man, Say He Was Child Abuse Suspect

Sheriff Gualtieri said the preliminary investigation revealed that six officers fired a total of 50 rounds and struck Dominique

A Wednesday shooting in St. Petersburg, Florida that left an officer injured and a Black man, Dominique Harris, dead remains under investigation.

The detective injured in the shooting is recovering in the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

On Thursday, Sheriff Gualtieri said the preliminary investigation revealed that six officers fired a total of 50 rounds and struck Dominique Harris 38 times.

Editor’s Note: The Black Star News is evaluating this latest killing of a Black man. In this particular case, most of what we know is coming from police sources. Therefore, it is still an open question as to whether they were justified in this shooting—given the routine lying police do when they murder Black people.

The police say Harris was a suspect in an child abuse allegation when they encountered him. We can only wonder if this is really true? Today, the police tell us Harris was a “person of interest” in a 2019 killing. Of course, it is a usual tactic for police to criminalize Blacks to justify their murderous practices against us.
