Devoted to in-depth discussions of political and social issues with a focus on voices and perspectives not typically heard in other media, “System Update” will feature episodes in English and Portuguese — with subtitled interviews whenever the topic appeals to U.S. and Brazilian audiences. The show’s Portuguese edition will be published on The Intercept Brasil’s YouTube channel.

“The 2020 Democratic primary revealed for all to see that a huge ideological and political swath of the U.S. electorate is entirely absent from cable news programming,” said Greenwald. “As a result, a vibrant YouTube ecosystem has emerged to air the voices and views that are invisible on corporate-owned cable channels. I’m thrilled that The Intercept has produced a show to enable me to join that thriving community.”

The show’s first guests are Kyle Kulinski, host of the popular YouTube show “The Kyle Kulinski Show,” also known as “Secular Talk,” and Liz Franczak, co-host of the TrueAnon podcast. These two no-holds-barred discussions address the successes and failures of the Bernie Sanders campaign and explore the future of the Democratic Party in relation to a growing progressive left.

In 2019, Greenwald, together with journalists at The Intercept Brasil, exposed a series of illegal dealings and improprieties by then-judge Sérgio Moro, now Jair Bolsonaro’s justice minister, and several prosecutors behind the multiyear, anti-corruption task force known as the Car Wash operation. He received several accolades for that work, including a special Vladimir Herzog award — one of the most prestigious journalism prizes in Brazil.

“System Update” will expand the reach of Greenwald’s journalism and offer an unmediated channel for a global audience to engage with his work and opinion.
