On Friday, July 17th, 2020, the Malcolm X Commemoration Committee (MXCC) will host another powerful virtual roundtable… ‘The Diary And Diplomacy of Malcolm X!’

This gathering will spotlight the heroic efforts of Malcolm X on his legendary trips abroad to secure support for the Black Liberation Movement in the United States as a Struggle for Human Rights by applying PanAfrican and International Human Rights Principles and to also be a beacon of Revolutionary International Human Solidarity for all of the Anti-colonial National Liberation Struggles of that epic moment. The discussion will expand on how that was captured in Malcolm’s legendary travel Diary.

Special guests for the evening will be the co-authors of the book, The Diary of Malcolm X, longtime journalist Herb Boyd and author-educator-activist Ilyasah Shabazz, the third daughter of Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz.

Joining them to expand this engaging discussion will be Malcolm X Scholars, Professor Abdul Alkalimat, co-convener of the historic Malcolm X Speaks In The 90s Conferences and Baba Zak Kondo, author of Conspiracies: Unravelling The Assassination of Malcolm X.

“I was excited beyond words when Herb and Ilyasah put ‘The Diary’ out,” said Zayid Muhammad, MXCC’s founding press officer.

“I am perplexed and disappointed that it has yet to garner the attention it deserves.

“Do we not realize that Malcolm rescued our liberation movement from almost total co-optation by white philanthropy and placed it squarely among all of the other revolutionary movements and trends of that incredible moment!

“That needs to be far more appreciated than it is,” he finished.

It was on July 17th, 1964 that Malcolm X delivered his historic ‘Memorandum on Behalf of 22 Million Afro-Americans to the Organization of African Unity,’ a high point of his Diplomacy.

This virtual gathering will take place at 6 pm and will be captured and shared Live! On Facebook on the Malcolm X Commemoration Committee’s Facebook page.

The evening will be dedicated Panther political prisoner Jalil Muntaqim, now in his 49th year in prison!

Muntaqim was granted a medical compassionate release by a Sullivan County judge only to have his conviction reinstated on an appeal by NY Attorney General Letitia James and the Department of Corrections. He has since contracted the dangerous Covid19 and is now fighting for his and for his freedom.
