Reggie Ossé, known widely as Combat Jack, has died.

The former lawyer and adored podcaster’s death was confirmed by Hot 97 on Wednesday (Dec. 20.). In October, Jack shared with the world his colon cancer diagnosis and promised fans he would fight the good fight.

“I’m about to jump on this journey to health with chemo and alternative medicine,” he tweeted. “Take care of your health. Your boy ain’t going nowhere though. We’re gonna keep doing this. Keep rocking with us.”

After graduating from Cornell University, Ossé got his start in the industry as an attorney who represented figures like Jay-Z, Dame Dash and Capone-N-Noreaga. After he retired from practicing law, Ossé went on to write books like Bling: The Hip Hop Jewelry Book, became an executive at MTV Networks, wrote for his own website Daily-math.com and in 2011, landed a position as the managing editor at The Source.

Before his time at The Source, Ossé launched his infamous podcast ‘The Combat Jack Show’ with co-hosts Dallas Penn, Premium Pete, DJ Benhameen, Just Blaze, and his longtime producer A-King. As the show gained momentum from inside PNC Radio in Brooklyn, Ossé went on to found the Loud Speakers Network, which is the home of his show plus Charlamagne Tha God & Andrew Schulz’s Brilliant Idiots, Angela Yee’s Lip Service, The Friend Zone, and DJ Benhameen’s FanBros. In 2013, Osse brought The Combat Jack Show to Complex and turned it into a web series.

Earlier this year, Ossé made an impact on hip-hop as the host of the in-depth docu-series based on Chris Lighty called Mogul: The Life & Death of Chris Lighty. The series dived deep into every move Lighty made with insight from a handful of people who worked with him like Fat Joe, Warren G, N.O.R.E, and more.
