An Oklahoma man said he fatally shot a Black woman to “teach her a lesson” and was “glad he’d done so,” authorities say.
The victim, a 27-year-old Black woman named Martika Ferguson, was found dead in an alleyway in Enid, Oklahoma on Sunday afternoon (Nov. 29). On Tuesday (Dec. 2), Enid police officers arrested Shane Dale Perosi in connection with her death.
Officers said their investigation led them and a SWAT team to serve a no-knock search warrant at a residence, where they found evidence in the case of Ferguson’s death.
During their interview with Perosi, police say the 30-year-old white man confessed to shooting and killing Ferguson in order to “teach her a lesson.” According to the police, Perosi added that he was “glad” he had killed her.
